HOW DO YOU PRICE YOUR TRIPS SO
AFFORDABLY?
We are not a fancy dude outfit. The emphasis
is on instruction, clinics, lots of time in the saddle moving cattle and
trail riding.
This is Wyoming and the Ranch is:
RUSTIC (simple, sage-brushy, subject to the elements, no
amenities, stay in cabins or teepees on a first-come-first-served basis, bring your own
sleeping bag, pillow and towels);
A WORKING RANCH (hands-on activities include
participation in chores, trail riding, horse wrangling, cattle gathers, branding and
cattle drives);
HORSE-ORIENTED (horses and riders are carefully matched, participation in
orientation and safety checks is mandatory, ride and bond with your horse to get the work
done as a team, experience the Western lifestyle and country from the back of a horse);
AUTHENTIC (occasional long hours, training in proper techniques of
horsemanship and livestock handling, sometimes dusty, hot, tiring, sometimes relaxing and
laid back, and most authentic of all -- with cowboy Nate Brown);
FLEXIBLE (tailored to your riding ability and interests insofar as
possible; riders may opt out of activities to take a half day or all day break to relax,
or take in activities in the surrounding area at the end of the ride day);
PEACEFUL (yes, just like in the movies -- scenic rides, cool evenings,
gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, campfires and stories, exhaustion and exhilaration).
Volunteers keep our activities affordable. Former
Interns -- apply to become a Volunteer and join a limited number of people are invited to
return in various ranch capacities.
See the
Volunteer page for more details.

WHERE DO YOU GET ALL THESE HORSES?
THERE ARE SO MANY DIFFERENT BREEDS.
SO MANY HORSES IN ONE PLACE
FOR SALE AT ONE TIME.
So many horses, and most
of the one hundred horses in our string are still not on the website!
Horses have been the love and focus of Nate's life for over eight decades. Nate
and MaeCile believe there are good horses of every breed and try to find
them to add them to the
string.
Our horses come from many sources:
our own breeding program, local auctions and friends who know about Nate's expertise with horses and call him.
Many people of different ages and experience levels are Interns at
HorseWorks throughout the year,
from beginners
of all ages to experienced riders who want long hours in the saddle riding the range and
working hard.
This variety in our Interns requires horses to match.
We do it right.
Riders have a great vacation, learn new skills and ride lots of horses.

WHAT ARE YOUR OTHER ACTIVITIES?
HORSE SALES:
Try our
horses and take one home any time during the year. Winter, Spring, Fall, try out horses
by appointment at no charge. During the summer, join a day-, week-
or three-week Internship, and ride the horses in clinics, cattle drives
or trail rides over diverse
terrain.
See Horse Sales page for details
and horse photos.
INTERNSHIPS:
One-day,
one-week and three-week Internships offer horse people from beginner to
advanced the
opportunity to improve their skills on the Ranch through clinics, cattle
drives and trail rides.
Rates include horses, tack, meals, accommodations and participation
in all HorseWorks working ranch events during your stay.
VOLUNTEERS:
Former three-week
Interns may apply to be Volunteers at HorseWorks throughout the year. Learn how
we work with the horses, pitch in, become an asset by being good students and fun people
to have around. Ben, a 2003 summer intern,
came back as a Volunteer and stayed all winter! 2007
will be Sue, Chuck and Lizs fourth year, and Dane and Kate, and Erin's
third year!
See the Ranch Internship page for details and an
