   PACKING LIST

PLUNDER TO REMEMBER FOR YOUR
WESTERN ADVENTURE VACATION

Note: the correct mailing address if you UPS your gear to us is: 3809 Grass Creek Rd, Thermopolis, WY 82443

NECESSARY PLUNDER:

_____ Heeled boots without cleats (not big-toed, cleated hiking boots)
_____ Wide-brimmed hat for protection from intense sun or rain
_____ Sun screen & chap stick (lip balm) with sun protection
_____ At least 3 pair of socks
_____ Head-to-toe rain gear (long slicker or pants/jacket like Wal-Mart $10 rain suits, not ponchos)
_____ Several long sleeved shirts (polypropylene is good in the winter)
_____ 2 extra pair of jeans
_____ Wind breaker or warm, lined jacket
_____ Sweater, sweatshirt, or fleece
_____ Sleeping bag (good to thirty degrees or lower)
_____ Sun glasses (with UVA and UVB protection)
_____ Scarf or bandanna (to protect neck from cold and sun)
_____ 3-inch foamy pad or self-inflating mattress
_____ Any medications you require
_____ Toiletries including a towel/wash cloth & baby wipes for bathing on the trail
_____ Flashlight and batteries
_____ Plastic bag for dirty clothes or wet towels
_____ Riding Helmet (Not bicycle)
(Note: a helmet is only necessary for groups whose rules require
their use. Unless otherwise arranged, for sanitary and
safety reasons, these should be provided by your group.)

Note: The weather in Wyoming varies.  Riders may experience extremes of heat, cold, wind, rain and snow, all in one day (if you are lucky! J).  In addition to the usual jeans, long-sleeved shirts, high cotton socks, T-shirts, under-clothes, towels, toiletries and sleep wear, “necessary plunder” are items that a person cannot gamble on leaving behind.  Your gear needs to keep you warm and dry from head to toe, not just head to mid-calf.  Think layers!

_____ Swimsuit (for the Hot Springs State Park in Thermopolis) _____ Chaps to keep legs warm and dry
_____ Pocket knife or Leatherman tool _____ Picture of your horse
_____ Rope/lariat
